Disaster Narrowly Averted - Dangerous Temp Spike and What I Learned

When I installed the Apex, I thought it was cool to have a pH probe along with the temp probe, ORP (oxygen in water) and salinity.  I figured since I was switching from 2-part dosing to Kalkwasser it was also handy to monitor pH spikes which can happen if Kalk isn't dosed properly or dosed too quickly.  I set up the probe and kept the standard alerts for high and low range and called it a day.   I never imagined the pH probe would literally save my tank.  Keep reading to find out what happened, how I plan on keeping this from happening again and what I learned.

Introduction of the Purple Monster, Clam Woes and Happy 2018

So much has happened since I last posted!  Ok, not really.  But 2018 did show up, I did add the largest meat coral I've ever seen to my reef tank, I got a good photo of Iko on Christmas, I have a list of events for 2018 where you can buy reefweeds art, Bevo is still cute and I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store!

2018 is less than two weeks away!

As the year comes to a close, I always find myself reflecting on the year quite a bit.  2017 was a pretty darn good year!  I started painting UV reef-inspired art.  I have found a renewed passion in the hobby with this new build.  I've made some really good friends thanks to this hobby!
